KTA - Kiteboard Tour Asia
Asia sees a new Asian Freestyle Champions crown as Thailand dominates the competition that took place at Chalong Bay, Phuket from the 15th — 19th December. Find out more, right here! The better winds came through in, the earlier part of the competition. They would see the freestyle championship drama playing out first, with the racers taking to the water on each of the four days, to build the required number of races needed to return a full event result. Their experienced saw to it that the Freestyle Championships ran smoothly and efficiently, with Competition Director Sergio Cantagalli then also joining the KTA Race Office Simon James, to support the hydrofoil action once the freestyle comp was in the bag.

KTA Thailand event report
We were all wondering on the run into Thailand if this potentially light wind venue was cooking up another surprise for us, as actually Pranburi has done for the last three seasons when it has delivered some of the best winds those tours experienced. So, with this in mind and following the high wind blasting two weeks ago in Indonesia, the riders and crew left nothing to chance, packed for every outcome and headed with heavy loads to Pak Nam Pran beach for round two of the Asian Kiteboard Championship Tour. The KTA helps to support the Thai Nationals and we hope that we can see many more of these iniatives develop over the coming seasons around Asia as it gives our sport a solid foundation to grow from.
The weekend in Pranburi was fortunately a windy one, much to the joy of the 70 riders who took part in the Moose Thailand Kiteboarding Championships. An impressive fleet took to the water for course racing on Saturday, followed by the freestyle competition on Sunday. A noteworthy number of youth riders also took part in the racing on Saturday- certainly interesting to see this side of kiteboarding developing in that age group as interest rises in lieu of the Youth Olympic Games fast approaching in Buenos Aires.
